The womb of the earth

Traditional Mexica ceremony of four doors, in private or in group.

The temazcal is an ancestral Mexica ceremony that represents the womb of mother earth. You enter, sweat, release, and come out different: it is a rebirth made with heat, steam, plants, and song.

Our temazcalero guides each session through four doors, each dedicated to an element and a part of your life.

How it unfolds

Two and a half hours, four doors

  • Before · Reception, explanation of the ritual, and cleansing with copal.
  • First door · The origin. We give thanks for what brought you here.
  • Second door · The water. We release what has completed its cycle.
  • Third door · The fire. We transform what weighs us down.
  • Fourth door · The birth. You emerge with a new intention.
  • After · Rest, fruit water, and time by the pool.

Bring a swimsuit, a towel, and comfortable clothes for afterward. We recommend arriving hydrated and without having eaten heavily.

Frequently asked questions

Is it very hot inside?

Yes, and that is the idea. But the temazcalero regulates the steam and you can exit at any time between doors if you need to. No one is forced to stay inside.

Can I enter if I am pregnant?

We have a gentle version of the temazcal designed for pregnancy, especially beautiful in the blessing way. Let us know your week of gestation when booking.

Is it a Mayan ceremony?

The temazcal is of Mexica tradition, from central Mexico. At OMA we guide it respecting that root, and we also offer therapies of Mayan tradition such as the Mayan massage and the T'zolkin oracle.

Are psychoactive plants used?

No. Aromatic medicinal plants (copal, rosemary, basil, rue) are used for the steam and the cleansing. Nothing alters your state of consciousness.

How many people fit?

Up to 15 people. When booking, you choose how many will come, and the price adjusts to the size of the group.
